Born in Johnson City, TN and raised in Amarillo, TX, I am now a senior at Yale University. Currently, I’m enrolled in a 5-year B.A./M.P.H. joint degree program which so far has been awesome. At Yale College I’m currently majoring in Political Science – Health Policy and at the Yale School of Public Health I’m concentrating in Health Management.
Over my time at Yale, I was the coordinator of the Public Health Coalition at Yale and Director of AIDS Walk New Haven, a non-profit that raises funds for local organizations that provide services to the HIV/AIDS community. I have also served as a publisher/writer for P.H. Magazine: The Yale Journal of Public Health and am the current finance head of the Dwight Hall socially responsible investment fund.
In the past two or three years, I’ve really gotten interested in social enterprise, economic development, and theories of global social justice. In fact, part of the reason for starting this blog was to help record and develop ideas for my senior thesis on market mechanisms for poverty alleviation. (All comments welcome.)
While I’m still getting adjusted to the world of blogs, tweets, diggs, and pokes, (okay so I have pokes down pretty well by now), I’m excited to be around for this new social media revolution. Upon starting this blog, I’ve already started following others and checking my Google Reader on a daily basis. Looking forward to continue posting, updates, and hearing from others!
